Casinos in Colorado are legal and regulated. This means that a wide range of entertainment is available to gambling enthusiasts here. The exception is sports betting, which is illegal. Commercial and tribal casinos are allowed in the state, as are charitable gambling, sweepstakes, and lotteries. Online casinos are not yet regulated by law.
History of Gambling in Colorado
Land-based casinos in the state were legalized quite a long time ago – in 1990. In total, there are about 40 land-based gambling establishments. Most of the establishments are open in cities associated with gold mining. Tribal and regulated casinos have a maximum wager level of no more than $100.
The development of online casinos and their rapid rise in popularity force legislatures to pass new gambling laws in Colorado that legalize gambling. So far, Colorado online gambling has not been legalized, but there is no strict ban on gambling.
